MEET THE FARM
From our family to yours, Awkward Farms LLC is open for business. Our farm is owned and operated by both Rich and Sarah, a dynamic husband and wife team to say the least!
Both retired military veterans, we continue to serve our community through volunteering and educating with our farm to those who are interested in their own farm and gardening.
Owner & Farmer
Lead man on the ground, Rich is constantly on the move helping to coordinate and facilitate the various activities, projects and chores we have on the farm. His favorite thing to do on the farm is hold and play with all the babies!
Owner & Farmer
The master mind of bad ideas, Sarah runs majority of the day to day operations and animal care. Her favorite thing to do is play with the turkeys and try to get them to call back to her.
MEET THE HERD!
The Does who get it done!
Herd Queen / Nubian
Elsa currently stands as our herd queen, and leading diva! First to the food, and first for a snack, this leading lady rules the herd with an iron hoof.
Vice-Herd Queen / Nigerian Dwarf
If Elsa is off on maternity leave, Pinky is right there to take up the position of herd queen! Stand-offish at first, but quick to warm up if you got snacks!
Sister to the queen, but with a gentler approach, Anna is our best milker in the herd - giving more than half a gallon per milking session!
Katniss aka Fatniss has a love of eating everything she can get her mouth on! With super rich and creamy milk, she is well on her way to the top of the herd hierarchy.
One of our very first babies born here on the farm, we couldn't help ourselves and had to have Apples stick around as a permanent fixture in the herd. Daughter to Pinky, this little girl is named after her absolute favorite treat and will be your very best friend for just a slice of apple.
Brought over from Briar Rose Croft, this stunning beauty has a lot of promise to pass on some of those beautiful genetics in the next coming years. True to her name, she is very much a wildling.
Brought all the way down from Eastern Washington from the renown Ober'd Rainbow Caprines, Rosie was one of the first Nubians on our farm, and our very first bottle baby! More like a puppy than a goat, Rosie loves everyone and everything and will follow you everywhere she can.
Our only odd-ball in the group, but our absolute favorite! Another bottle baby brought down from Ober'd Rainbow Caprines in Eastern Washington, Penny is the star of the show! The very first to meet and greet, and will even crawl in your lap if you sit down - Penny is another goat turned puppy who wants nothing more than your undivided love and attention.
MEET THE HERD CONTINUED!
The Bucks & Wethers
Nigerian Dwarf - Registered
This blue-eyed stud muffin was brought all the way over from Sugar Face Farm in Eastern Oregon, and has not disappointed yet! Panda comes to us from highly impressive milking lines and throws some of the fluffiest kids you will ever see!
driveway stud service available upon request.
Nubian - Registered
This gentle giant also comes to us from Briar Rose Croft, and serves as our main stud for all our Nubian ladies. Don't let his size fool you, he's just a giant teddy bear once you catch him!
driveway stud service available upon request
EVERYONE ELSE ON THE FARM....
Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD)
Winston serves as our lead LGD in our herd; running patrols, protecting the herd from predators and playing nanny to the new babies.
Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD)
Chester came to us from Stoneberg Farms out in Corvallis; with years of experience in a much larger herd, Chester was excited for the slower pace and can be seen often dozing in the afternoon shade of a tree, knowing Winston has got it under control.
SHEEPIE 1 & 2
These lovely ladies are expecting to provide some truly terrific lambs this next year! Be sure to check back frequently to see what we have available from these ladies.
THELMA & LOUISE
These two sisters are fairly identical and always up for some love and pets, but that doesn't take away from their deadly mouse and vole hunting abilities! These two are strictly in charge of keeping the mouse population eliminated in our feed barn and nursery stalls.
We currently have a breeding pair of New Zealand meat rabbits. Check back frequently to see who and what we have available for sale throughout the year for your meat rabbit needs.
Layer Hens & Roosters
Our barnyard mix of chickens always provide us with an overabundance of eggs! These free range chickens get to live the high life with their own acre of pasture with fortified chicken run.
Check back frequently for both chicks and hatching eggs available for sale.
Rouen & Pekin
These laughing ducks almost always seem to have a staff meeting near midnight and always have something to say! Raised for both meat and eggs, these ducks get to free range with the rest of our poultry in their very own acre, with two pools just for their watery needs!
We have a wide array of turkeys here on the farm (one of Sarah's favorite animals!) We have all sorts of sizes growing throughout the year for your butchering needs. Make sure to check in early if you are looking for a fresh Thanksgiving or Christmas Turkey! Processed weights range from 18lbs to 35lbs!
